Products description

Cool, practical, and flattering all at once: made from sturdy selvage denim, these pants shine in a deep blue color and the popular regular fit. They bravely withstand any strain - just like the jeans of the past, which even heavy mining work and laborious gold panning couldn't damage. They also surprise with a gimmick that keeps you going: the Drinkin' Gasoline hip flask. So you're always well dressed and ready for a quick drink whenever you need it. Now all you need is the sound of the Baboons' song of the same name: Drinkin' gasoline is a-all I do, Drinkin' gasoline to get over you...

Robust jeans made from deep blue RAW selvage denim.

The high-quality selvage denim has a deep blue color and a classic red/white selvedge. The regular fit is based on the cut of the best-selling Blue Burning Blacktop model - like its predecessor, these jeans are not pre-washed. The front view is deliberately simple with an authentic 5-pocket cut – only the coin pocket stands out with its selvage edge. The back features large pockets embellished with the V-59 logo embroidery. The back view is rounded off by a brown faux leather label with logo embossing on the back waistband. The entire jeans are stitched and embroidered in contrasting colors, giving them that classic blue jeans look. The pants are fastened with a traditional button fly with logo buttons in antique copper. The matching rivets are shaped like nuts and are embellished with a “59” embossing. Last but not least: as a gimmick, you get a stainless steel hip flask in the shape of a gas can on top - cheers!

Background information on selvage denim:
Selvage denim, also known as “selvedge” denim, is a type of denim that is produced with a clean, “real” woven edge. The denim fabric is generally processed and sold unwashed, in its rough original state, as jeans - in other words, as raw denim. Typical for this denim fabric are the selvage edges, the woven edges of the fabric that become visible when processed, for example when wearing jeans with turn-ups. The word “selvage” comes from the English word “self-edged,” which describes the “real,” i.e., uncut woven edge of a fabric. When referring specifically to denim, this means that the fabric is manufactured on old shuttle looms. These looms weave fabric with only one weft thread, which continuously travels back and forth across the entire width of the loom. When this thread is fed back into the fabric at each end, the so-called “self-edge” or selvage is created. The selvage has the advantage that the edges do not fray like the selvedges that are created when weaving on more modern projectile looms. The selvage edge is usually fixed with colored thread: green, white, brown, yellow, or red, with red being the most common. Selvage denim is so high-quality and expensive because Schützen looms work more slowly and can produce a much narrower width of fabric, meaning that a much longer piece of fabric is needed to make a pair of jeans. When breaking in both raw denim and selvedge jeans, you can achieve a particularly beautiful and individual “wash” by wearing them every day for 6-8 months without washing them, as the first wash “fixes” their current condition. This means that the color will not change at all afterwards, or only very slowly. Jeans enthusiasts recommend not washing these pants at all. “Wear, wear, wear” is the motto. If you have to do anything at all, then dry clean them.
