In the late 40s, when tattoos were a Stigma for the poor and underprivileged, the outcasts of society, Johnny "Mad Dog" Chesterton opened his first Tattoo-shop "Hell's kitchen tattoo" in Hollister, CA. When a few years later the legendary riots took place in this quiet little town, his shop was burned to the ground and he had to leave California to work as a tattoo-artist in Hamburg, Germany.
